The Elder Scrolls Series by Bethseda

Legends Series: Battlespire

This is an First Person Game (similar to Quake but possessing role playing elements) that takes place within the BattleMage training tower named Battlespire located on an "extra-planar pocket". Apparently you arrive, finding most of the resident mages dead or possessed. It is up to you to defeat Mehrunes Dagon the Destructor, who has taken over Battlespire and intends to use it for nefarious purposes. (from the Battlespire FAQ)
Release Date: Fall 1997, Currently in Beta Testing

Battlespire will support 3dFX boards, such as the Diamond Monster 3d and the Hercules Stingray 128/3D. It will also support coop/deathmatch 8 player LAN and Internet action. It will still be a RPG with character generation and advancement. It will have high resolution graphics and outdoors scenes, but will be the last Elder Scrolls game to use sprites.
