Realms of Arkania: Shadows over Riva by Attic/Sir-Tech

from Sir-Tech

Based on the popular German roleplaying game system , Shadows over Riva promises 360 degree movement, six character parties with over 50 skills to improve, 2 class society, hundreds of NPCs, more than 50 monsters and 400 weapons, items, and spells. (from Sir-Tech page)

It sports an isometric combat system reminiscent of the old Gold-Box-Games from SSI, but if you are not one of the hardcore rp'ers, there will be different level settings (apparently you are able to make it into a straight adventure game if you wish). The bulk of the story takes place in Riva, which is under seige. You must ingratiate yourself to the people of Riva, who are divided into two classes, and figure out why none of the warriors of Riva seem to want to fight anymore.

This is the third game in the series, preceded by Blades of Destiny and Star Trail. IMHO, it is most like the old Bard's Tales series of games, but with a greater emphasis on skills.

Release Date - "1st Quarter 1997"
